Genius Tales: Meet This Bihar Boy, Who Cracked IIT-JEE at 13, and Earned PhD by 24

Satyam Kumar from Bihar holds the distinction of being the youngest student to clear IIT-JEE. He has worked with numerous renowned companies including Apple.

IIT-JEE exams are considered one of the toughest exams to crack in India. Every year, hundreds of thousands of students appear for it to secure admission to IIT. Only a few hundreds managed to succeed. Remarkably, a young maths genius cracked the exam at just 13 years old. Satyam Kumar from Bihar holds the distinction of being the youngest student to clear IIT-JEE. Let’s read the inspiring story of this young achiever. 

Youngest achiever

Satyam Kumar is a resident of Bhojpur district in Bihar. His father works as a farmer. Satyam first took the exam in the year 2011 and secured a rank of 8137, however, he was not satisfied with the results. In 2012, he appeared for the exam again and achieved an impressive All India Rank of 679 at the young age of 13. 

Education

In an interview, he revealed that he appeared for the exams again as he was unsatisfied with his initial performance. He enrolled at IIT Kanpur and earned a dual degree in BTech-MTech in Electrical Engineering. Later, he decided to pursue a PhD degree in America. He earned his research degree in Brain-Computer Interface at the age of 24. 

Working at Apple

According to his LinkedIn profile, he initially did a research internship at InterDigital Inc., and later worked as a Machine Learning Intern at Apple. His goal is to develop a platform like Facebook. With his incredible achievements, he has already showed his talent on a global scale.
