Network Engineer Job After GNIIT
Kannav Thukral's father hails from Ludhiana, Punjab. He came to Delhi for business and settled here. He started a scooter spare parts shop. Kannav was born in Delhi. After his initial education from Darbari Lal DAV Model School, he graduated in Commerce from Delhi University. He also pursued a GNIIT course from NIIT. This led to a job as a Network Engineer at Lucent Technologies.
Joined Father's Business After 3 Years of Job
Kannav Thukral continued working for 3 years while also assisting his father in his business. One day, he decided to quit his job and fully dedicate himself to the business. At that time, their shop in Delhi's Khan Market sold luxury car spare parts, which were imported from Germany, Dubai, and Japan. It was during this time that he also started selling spare parts for Nokia feature phones.
Started a Feature Phone Manufacturing Factory in Sonipat
This was the time when the mobile phone sector in India was booming. Kannav was already selling feature phone spare parts. Around the same time, some people started assembling phones in India using parts imported from China. Seeing this, Kannav set up a factory in Sonipat, Haryana, and started manufacturing feature phones under the brand name Kara. Due to their low cost, they became popular in rural areas of the country.
Demand for Smartphones Priced Under 10,000
In 2016, Kannav started manufacturing smartphones under the brand name Blackzone. He started selling them in several states, including UP, Bihar, and West Bengal. There is a huge demand for smartphones priced under 10,000. They also manufacture speakers, smartwatches, and other products. Currently, his company's turnover is 110 crore rupees. He designs his products keeping in mind the needs of rural India. He also exports to Sri Lanka and Nepal.
