Shailendra Kumar Bandhe's story is a testament to the power of passion and hard work in overcoming even the toughest challenges. Hailing from the small village of Bitkuli in Chhattisgarh, Shailendra achieved success in the demanding CGPSC exam. After five attempts, he secured the 73rd rank in the General Category and the 2nd rank in the Reserved Category in CGPSC 2023. Remarkably, Shailendra, who once worked as a peon in the PCS office, is now about to join as an officer.

Background

Shailendra was born in Bitkuli village, Bilaspur district, into a modest farming family. Despite his social and familial limitations, he never allowed them to stand in the way of his dreams. He completed his early education in Raipur before going on to pursue a BTech in Mechanical Engineering from NIT Raipur. This experience broadened his perspective, and his aspiration to become a government officer began to take shape.

Job opportunities

After completing his BTech, Shailendra had numerous opportunities to build a lucrative career in the private sector. However, he chose the path of government service, believing it would offer him greater stability and respect. Determined to pursue his dream of becoming a government servant, Shailendra never applied for placement interviews and stayed focused on his ultimate goal.

The journey was not easy for Shailendra. He made five attempts at the CGPSC exam, each time coming close to success but falling short. In his first attempt, he failed the prelims. In the second attempt, he couldn't clear the mains. In his third and fourth attempts, he reached the interview stage but failed in the final round. Despite these setbacks, Shailendra didn't give up. Instead, he motivated himself to work even harder, believing that failure is the true guide to success.

Working as a peon

In 2023, Shailendra took a job as a peon in the CGPSC office to support his family financially. He did the job with pride, believing that no job is small and that every job has its dignity. Despite the difficult circumstances, including taunts from some people, Shailendra never let their words shake his confidence. He remained focused on his goal, knowing that every step, no matter how small, was leading him closer to his dream.

CGPSC success

Shailendra succeeded in his fifth attempt at the CGPSC 2023, securing the 73rd rank in the General Category and the 2nd rank in the Reserved Category. His hard work, struggle, and unwavering self-belief brought him to this achievement. Shailendra is now set to be appointed as Assistant Commissioner (State Tax).

Shailendra gives the credit of his success to his family, who supported him throughout his journey. His father, Santram Bandhe, a farmer, proudly expressed that the struggle and hard work Shailendra put in is an inspiration to all youth. This unwavering family support played a crucial role in Shailendra's success.

Perseverance

Shailendra made it clear that success is achieved through hard work and determination, regardless of the obstacles along the way. He believes that learning from failure and maintaining confidence is essential, as failure is life's greatest teacher.
