Cracked IIT JEE at 13, Meet India’s youngest PhD holder at just 24

Every year, lakhs of students appear for the IIT entrance exam, but only a few thousand succeed. Some students even attempt the IIT JEE exam two to three times to clear it. Among such students, Satyam Kumar from Bihar stands out. According to reports, he is the youngest Indian to clear the IIT JEE at the age of 13.

Some students even attempt the IIT JEE exam two to three times to clear it. Among such students, Satyam Kumar from Bihar stands out. According to reports, he is the youngest Indian to clear the IIT JEE at the age of 13.

679th Rank in IIT JEE

Satyam Kumar, a resident of Bhojpur district in Bihar, is the son of a farmer. He cleared JEE Mains in 2013 and secured 670th rank. However, he first appeared for the JEE exam in 2011 at the age of 12, but he was not satisfied with his rank of 8137. In 2012, he reappeared for JEE and secured an All India Rank of 679. 

PhD from the US at the age of 24

In a media interaction, he admitted that he was not satisfied with his first exam rank. Therefore, he took the exam again because he had complete faith in himself.
Satyam took admission to IIT Kanpur and pursued a dual degree in B.Tech-M.Tech in Electrical Engineering. He then decided to pursue a PhD and moved to the United States. You will be surprised to know that he completed his PhD at the age of 24. He specializes in Brain-Computer Interface. 

Wants to develop a Facebook-like platform

Satyam has also worked as a Research Assistant. According to his LinkedIn profile, he initially did a research internship at InterDigital Inc. He has also worked as a Machine Learning Intern at Apple. His goal is to develop a platform like Facebook. However, Satyam has made his mark all over the world with his talent.
