Jagdamba Devi
Jagdamba Devi is a Madhubani painter from the village. In the year 1975, she was honoured with the Padma Shri for her remarkable achievements in taking this art form to the global stage. She was born on February 25, 1901, in Bhoj Pandaul, Madhubani, Bihar. All India Handicrafts Board awarded her on January 4, 1969, and she also received recognition from the Industries Department during Vaishali Festival held from April 18-20, 1970.
Seeta Devi
Seeta Devi was born in the year 1914 in Basaha village of Supaul district, Bihar. She was married off at a tender age of 12. In the year 1972, a pavilion dedicated to Madhubani art form was organized at Pragati Maidan, Delhi. Her paintings received immense recognition. Seeta Devi’s art still adorns the walls of Indira Gandhi International Airport. She was honoured with the Padma Shri in 1981.
Baua Devi
Baua Devi was honoured with the Padma Shri in the year 2017. During PM Modi’s visit to Germany, he presented one of Baua Devi’s paintings to Mayor Stephen Shostak. She has also won numerous awards and honours on the State and National level.
