The exciting news of Ayan Jain’s UPSC success on Tuesday brought immense joy to his family. He made history by securing an impressive 16th rank in this third UPSC attempt. He is the younger son of former IPS officer Mukesh Jain. Previously, the elder son, Arth Jain, also attained the 16th rank in UPSC 2020 and is currently serving as SDM in Ujjain. The Jain family is overwhelmed with joy at this remarkable coincidence. Both sons have now achieved the prestigious rank of IAS, each securing the 16th position in their respective UPSC exams.
A family of officers
In UPSC 2022, Ayan secured the 87th rank. Determined to attain a better rank, he continued with his preparations. In the subsequent UPSC 2023 exam, Ayan, at 24 years old, attempted the UPSC exam for the third time. After his first success, he took leave from his work, and devoted more time to his studies. Remarkably, several members from his family are serving as IAS and IPS officers. His uncle, Upendra Jain is also an IPS officer just like his father, and his brother is serving as an IAS officer.
Education
Ayan Jain pursued a degree in Electrical Engineering from IIT Delhi. With several family members having already cleared the UPSC exam, he was inspired to consider a career in civil services. He started his preparation for competitive exams in 2019 while in his third year of BTech. He highlights the importance of timely preparation for civil services, advising aspirants to excel academically in college as well to have a backup option.
Family’s support
Ayan received immense support from his family and friends. He decided to follow the path of civil services after having several meaningful discussions with his friends. He dedicated 9 to 10 hours daily to study. He mentions the challenges people face while maintaining a balance between exam preparation and their office work. It is a tremendously difficult task and yet people manage to achieve success with their dedication.
Dedication
Ayan mentions that he maintained a distance from social media platforms during his UPSC exam preparation. However, he believes that limited use of social media can help reduce stress. Initially, he studied at night, but as the exam approached, he transitioned to daytime study sessions. Despite focusing on exam preparation, Ayan still found time to connect with friends over the phone during his journey of preparing for competitive exams.
