IAS Kinjal Singh’s father was murdered when she was only 6 months old. Her mother fought for justice for several years and Kinjal continued the journey after growing up. The murderers were convicted after 31 years. In the year 2008, all the woes of life disappeared when Kinjal became an IAS officer in the year 2008.

Who is IAS Kinjal Singh?
IAS Kinjal Singh is a resident of Uttar Pradesh. In the year 1982, when she was only 6 months old, her father was murdered in unfortunate circumstances. Her mother would make several visits to the Supreme Court in Delhi to seek justice for Kinjal’s father. Kinjal’s determination to join the civil services was inspired by her mother’s undying dedication to seek justice for her father.
Convicting the murderers after 30 years
Kinjal Singh’s mother Vibha Singh struggled to seek justice for her husband for decades. After several visits to the court and attending hundreds of court hearings over the years, the murderers were convicted on 5 June 2013 in a special court in Lucknow. The court convicted 18 policemen for the murder of then DSP KP Singh. At the time, Kinjal Singh was already working in her service as an DM in Bahraich district of Uttar Pradesh.
Unaccomplished dreams
In 1982, Kinjal’s father was also preparing for the UPSC exams. He had appeared for the exams, and after his death, the family learned that he had cleared the exams successfully. Kinjal’s father passed away without accomplishing his dreams, so she decided to pursue the same path for her father to honour his life.
Losing mother’s support
Kinjal Singh pursued her graduate degree from Lady Shri Ram College for Women, University of Delhi. During her studies in the year 2004, her mother experienced some medical issues, and in the reports, it was found out that she had been suffering from cancer. Vibha Singh underwent several rounds of chemotherapy, but her condition only worsened. Her mother took a promise from Kinjal on her death bed that she would continue fighting for her father. Vibha Singh passed away in the same year,
Becoming an IAS officer
Kinjal Singh’s will to accomplish her dreams grew stronger because she wanted to make her parents feel proud. After the demise of her mother, Kinjal and her younger sister started living together in Delhi, and both of them prepared for UPSC exams. All the woes of life disappeared when Kinjal became an IAS officer in her second attempt in UPSC in the year 2008, and her younger sister achieved the rank of IRS officer.
