Ravi Kaushik, a resident of Delhi, has invented a unique air purifier that cools down the air while cleaning it. After a thorough research, Ravi designed a blueprint for an economical air purifier. He was finally able to develop a product that was both efficient and within a low budget. The Airth AC purifiers cost around Rs 3,000.

New Delhi: Ravi Kaushik, a resident of Delhi, grew up witnessing the changing environments of the capital of India. Over the last few years, the air pollution in Delhi has drastically escalated. Ravi felt compelled to address the air pollution problem and began contemplating potential solutions.

In 2020, after completing his education, he decided to venture into entrepreneurship instead of taking up a regular office job. Being a responsible citizen, he wanted to tackle the situation effectively. This idea led to the establishment of the startup Airth.

Ravi Kaushik’s background

Ravi Kaushik earned a degree in Civil Engineering from NIT Kurukshetra in the year 2016. In 2019, he pursued a master’s degree in Environmental Engineering from IIT Mumbai. During his studies at IIT, he got the idea of making an AC air purifier. He did his research on Aerosol science and Microbiology subjects and launched his company Airth Research Private Limited in June 2020, while collaborating with the Clean Energy International Incubation Centre in Mumbai.

After a year, with support from IIT Kanpur, he developed a device capable of not only removing dust particles but also eliminating bacteria from AC air. Later, collaborating with IISc Bangalore, a coating was designed for the model, which is now patented.

The pilot model

Ravi Kaushik faced the challenges that come with the launch of a startup. He wished to make the air purifiers efficient and at the same time, affordable. He faced significant hurdles in developing such a product. Existing air purifiers in the market are priced between Rs 10,000 and Rs 40,000, which is out of budget for a larger population.

After a thorough research, Ravi designed a blueprint for an economical air purifier. He was finally able to develop a product that was both efficient and within a low budget. The Airth AC purifiers cost around Rs 3,000.

One of the firsts

Airth’s innovative air purifier is the first of its kind in India. It does not affect electricity costs and circulates cool air while cleaning it. The upper part of the AC draws air from the room and releases clean and cool air from the lower part. It efficiently cleans the air without impacting the cooling process.

A hassle-free model

Many common air purifiers require frequent activation. The users often get busy with their daily routine and forget to use the air purifiers at all. However, Airth’s AC air purifier has a unique function. The users don’t have to use the on and off functions frequently. This seamless integration ensures convenience, addressing the common issue of forgetting to activate traditional air purifiers regularly.
