Timeless Adventures: An Inspiring Journey of a Couple Exploring the World at 70

Yogeshwar Bhalla and Sushma Bhalla have been married for 47 years. Following retirement in 2011, the couple embarked on their travel adventures. They have explored numerous countries including Belgium, Dubai, France, Qatar, Singapore, Scotland, Turkey, and Venice.

Delhi: This is a tale of an inspiring couple embarking on global travels in their seventies. Married for 47 years, Yogeshwar Bhalla and Sushma Bhalla have explored over 22 countries. Their joyful lifestyle serves as a valuable example for couples, offering insights into nurturing a successful marriage. 

Who is Yogeshwar Bhalla?

Yogeshwar Bhalla, following in his father's footsteps, adopted a passion for travel from an early age. He often accompanied his father, who shared the same enthusiasm for exploring new places. At 17, he ventured into horse riding, and by 21, upon receiving his first salary, he purchased his first motorcycle for Rs 6300. From then on, he meticulously planned weekly excursions to nearby destinations, igniting his love for travelling. 

A beautiful marriage

When Yogeshwar Bhalla met his wife Sushma for the first time through an arranged meeting, he instantly fell in love with her. Sushma sang the song ‘Ab to Hai Tumse Har Khushi’ from the film ‘Abhiman,’ which deeply resonated with Yogeshwar, leaving a lasting impression. The couple tied the knot on 3 October 1976. 

Going on adventures

Yogeshwar Bhalla and Sushma visited Srinagar for their honeymoon trip. Sushma mentioned that this trip allowed them to get acquainted with each other. While Yogeshwar cherished travel, Sushma enjoyed reading. Following retirement in 2011, the couple embarked on their travel adventures. They have explored numerous countries including Belgium, Dubai, France, Qatar, Singapore, Scotland, Turkey, and Venice. 

A love for travelling

Yogeshwar Bhalla underwent a knee replacement surgery in 2021, followed by a period of rest as advised by the doctor. He was also advised to not ride his bike due to the surgery. Enduring three months of physiotherapy, he was later instructed to use a walking stick. Despite the challenges posed by the pandemic and his surgery, he continued his motorcycle outings. He proudly shared his experiences of paragliding at 60 and trekking in the Himalayas at 70, expressing his determination to sustain such adventures in the future.
