A Homemaker’s Inspiring Journey to Entrepreneurship: Meet Rajni, Owner of a Pickle Business from Meerut

Rajni received specialized training in pickle-making, took a loan of Rs 10,000 from a government bank and embarked on a new journey. Today, she has become financially independent and has successfully provided employment to 15 women.

Rajni, a homemaker from Meerut, Uttar Pradesh, faced challenges in managing household expenses. Her husband worked as tailor and the earned income was insufficient to meet the ends. After discussing with her husband, she decided to venture into a small business. Rajni received specialized training in pickle-making, took a loan of Rs 10,000 from a government bank and embarked on a new journey. Today, she has become financially independent and has successfully provided employment to 15 women. 

The beginnings

Rajni, a resident of Zahidpur, Meerut, was struggling financially. To achieve self-reliance, she and her husband decided to explore a different path. Rajni contacted the District Industries Centre and received training in pickle-making. She took a loan of Rs 10,00 from the bank and later secured an additional Rs 1 lakh loan through the centre. 

Business success

Rajni gradually expanded her business by making various types of pickles including lemon, mango, chilli, and amla. Her pickles gained popularity in the market. As a result, her business flourished and now her pickles are supplied to many states. To meet the increasing demand, Rajni is now planning to install a machine to make pickles, which will help her work efficiently.

Being an inspiration

Remarkably, she has now provided employment to 15 women. During peak seasons, they receive huge orders for pickles. Rajni has also successfully paid back her loan and now earns significant income to manage her household. She believes that everyone should strive to create a unique identity in society. Her husband, Mukesh, mentions that if every person supports their partners, they can overcome financial difficulties and achieve success.
