Electric two-wheelers
According to the Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MORTH) regulations, electric bikes with a maximum speed of 25 km per hour do not require a driving license or registration to be driven on the road.
This means that if you purchase an electric vehicle with a maximum speed of 25 km/h, you will not need a driving license or risk fines for speeding. If stopped by traffic police, as long as you answer their questions correctly, you will not be fined.
RTO rules
Rules regarding driving licenses for these vehicles may change depending on local regulations. However, all two-wheelers must be registered with the Regional Transport Office (RTO) and obtain a registration certificate (RC) to be legally operated on public roads.
