While the coalition mess in Karnataka continues, state Congress chief Dinesh Gundu Rao left for London for a vacation while former chief minister Siddaramaiah is in Varuna constituency. The coalition seems to be in a state of disarray

Bengaluru: Last week, JD(S) supremo and former Prime Minister HD Deve Gowda himself forecast midterm polls in Karnataka. This prediction came close on the heels of his son and chief minister HD Kumaraswamy openly saying that it was not easy running a coalition government with the Congress, with many dissenting members.

When the senior most leader didn’t mince words when talking about the turbulence in the state politics, there is certainly something very fishy. Now, what adds more fillip to the entire episode is the way three top leaders of the state are behaving.

One, none other than the chief minister himself who is in the US. Though present in the US, he is keeping a close watch on the developments in the state. He had even tweeted in the wake of Anand Singh (MLA from Vijayanagara) blaming the BJP for the mess.

Two, Dinesh Gundu Rao. He is the chief of the Karnataka Congress. He is in London on a family vacation. This comes at a time when two prominent Congress leaders have put in their papers.

Three, former chief minister Siddaramaiah. He has been camping in Varuna, his son Yateendra’s constituency, and holding a series of meetings, taking stock of the situation. In fact, he himself issued an assurance asking the chief minister not to worry about the happenings in the state.

Coincidentally, minister DK Shivakumar the well-known trouble-shooter of the Congress is maintaining a stoic silence over the issue.

As if this wasn’t enough, former JD(S) state president H Vishwanath, who also put in his papers, is reportedly in touch with BJP leaders in New Delhi. As and when he resigned as Karnataka JD(S) chief, there were talks that he was being approached by the BJP to join them.

Vishwanath was also in touch with Srinivas Prasad, the BJP MP from Chamarajanagar.

Is the Karnataka government disarray? People of the state are confused.
