Rajasthan government has granted land to persecuted minorities from Pakistan at half its market price. This comes as a stark contrast as the Congress opposes CAA at the nation level.

While senior leader Kapil leader in no uncertain terms said that the states have no right not to implement laws enacted by the Parliament of India in relation to the Citizenship Amendment Act, here is another bit of news that might not sound pleasant to the Congress’s ears.
Rajasthan, which has a Congress government headed by CM Ashok Gehlot, has given lands to the persecuted minorities of Pakistan.
In this regard, as reported by The New Indian Express, the Jaipur Development Authority has issued allotment letters to a hundred people who have come from Pakistan in the Khushar Extension Housing Scheme by Zonal Office-9.
The Authority has given lands at 50% discount.
The move comes in consonance with the welfare schemes announced by the Rajasthan government for such persecuted minorities.
What’s interesting is that the Congress government in Rajasthan had also issued citizenship to as many as 8 refugees who had come from Pakistan, fearing persecution.

Though the Congress party has been vociferously opposing the CAA and NRC along with its coterie, the move by Rajasthan government is seen as a consequence of the persecuted minorities prevailing upon the Gehlot to bring in welfare schemes for them.
On this issue of opposing the Act nationwide and granting citizenship in Rajasthan, state BJP President Satish Poonia said: ‘‘This is another U-turn by the Gehlot Government. The Chief Minister should tell us whether he supports or opposes CAA. Their words and actions contradict each other.’’
To this, Congress spokesperson Archana Sharma retorted thus: ‘‘The identity of India is through its Constitution and we reject the CAA-NRC because those are opposed to our Constitution. Since we respect the Constitution, our government will not implement the divisive CAA-NRC in Rajasthan. But opposing CAA does not mean that we oppose Pakistani migrants who are in our state and have already got citizenship which they deserve.’’
