Kashmir is back to normal as tourism has restarted, thereby giving its economy a fillip

Bengaluru: It’s good news as Kashmir is slowly but surely returning to normalcy as regards tourism.

Kashmir had been shut down due to the pandemic. As it reopens its doors, tourism is the biggest earner.

Dainik Bhasker notes that as winter increases, the number of tourists also does.

Snowfall has started. Since tourism is the backbone of the economy here, people are happy to earn some money.

Couples have returned to Kashmir, trying to spend some private and enjoyable time here. On their itinerary are prewedding shoots as well. Dal lake is one of the most sought-after destinations here.

The website quoted a photographer as saying, “There cannot be a better place than Kashmir from a photographer's point of view. For us, we earn only two months in a year. A lot of damage was caused by the lockdown.”

It is important to note that the valley had been shut down after the abrogation of articles 370 and 35A. Internet services were down and multiple security advisories were issued.

In all, it is the business, and in turn, the economy that were terribly affected.

The website quoted Raju, a cab driver, as saying, “After more than a year, we have come to Kashmir with a tourist. It looks good that the tourists are coming here slowly. We want the business to be restored. The vaccine is necessary to avoid corona. Lockdown is not a solution.”

But it should be noted that during the lockdown, a number of charity organisations offered unconditional help to these people. Be it serving free meals or taking care of them in any other manner, these organisations have done a phenomenal job.

It is indeed heartening to note that business activities are limping back to normalcy. That being said, it is imperative to note that precautions have to be taken, to keep coronavirus at bay.
