Viral video: Leopard succumbs during neutralization effort in Uttar Pradesh's Sambhal (WATCH)

A heartbreaking incident unfolded in the Sambhal district of Uttar Pradesh as authorities attempted to neutralise a leopard that had entered a residential area. The encounter resulted in the unfortunate demise of the leopard, raising questions about wildlife management protocols and human-wildlife conflict mitigation measures.
 

The incident occurred in Rasulpur Dhatra village, where residents encountered a leopard inside a house, prompting them to seek assistance from local authorities. Responding to the distress call, police personnel, arrived at the scene to address the situation. Amidst the rescue operation, the situation escalated when the leopard attacked DSP Anuj Chaudhary, causing injuries. Despite efforts to safely contain and neutralise the animal, the operation took a tragic turn, resulting in the death of the leopard.

A video capturing the distressing incident has surfaced online, depicting the perilous circumstances faced by authorities as they attempted to handle the situation. Individuals in khaki attire stand on cots with an unconscious leopard visible between them, highlighting the tense and challenging nature of the encounter.

The incident has sparked discussions and raised concerns about the methods employed during wildlife encounters and the safety protocols in place for handling such situations.
