Video: Forest officials shoot dead leopard after series of attacks in Uttarakhand's Tehri district (WATCH)

In a bid to ensure the safety of residents in the Maletha Village of Tehri District, Uttarakhand, forest officials undertook a challenging operation resulting in the shooting of a tiger that had reportedly attacked over ten individuals in the area. The initiative, spearheaded by Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari in collaboration with the Forest Department, aimed to alleviate the fears gripping the local community following a string of serious injuries caused by the wild animal.
 

The decision to intervene was prompted by mounting concerns among villagers who found themselves living in fear of potential attacks by the aggressive tiger. With the situation escalating and public safety at stake, MLA Vinod Kandari brought the issue to the attention of the Forest Department, urging swift action to address the pressing threat.

Responding to the urgency of the matter, the Forest Department promptly launched an operation to locate and neutralize the dangerous animal. Equipped with drones and a dedicated team, officials embarked on a meticulous search in the jungle, with the primary objective of either capturing or eliminating the tiger.

Utilizing advanced technology, the team strategically cornered the tiger using a drone, effectively narrowing down its movements and positioning themselves for a decisive confrontation. In a carefully executed maneuver captured on video, forest officials surrounded the animal before ultimately resorting to lethal force to neutralize the threat it posed to the community.

The video footage circulating on social media depicts the intense operation undertaken by approximately 10-15 forest department personnel as they successfully immobilized the tiger, bringing it down with precision shooter. Following the elimination of the aggressive animal, a sense of relief swept through the village, marking an end to the harrowing ordeal endured by residents.

In recognition of the Forest Department's swift and effective response, Devprayag MLA Vinod Kandari commended their efforts by awarding them a token of appreciation amounting to Rs 11,000. The gesture underscored the collaborative spirit and commitment to safeguarding the welfare of local communities in the face of wildlife-related threats.

In response to the incident, users on social media platform X expressed their dismay over the forest officials' decision to resort to lethal measures against the leopard. Many voiced their belief that tranquilizing and relocating the animal could have been a more humane and environmentally responsible alternative.
