It is to rally mass consciousness for construction of Ram temple at Ayodhya. The hymn is considered holy and was popularised by Hindu saint Samarth Tukaram of Maharashtra.

New Delhi: In the run-up to the 2019 Lok Sabha polls, the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) is rather more invested in supporting the BJP to wrest power once again and with a view to that they have decided to suspend the Ram temple movement for the time being.

Top sources of the RSS body told MyNation that the VHP had decided to suspend the Ram temple movement till the elections.

Instead, the VHP, which is one of the original appellants in the Ram Janmabhoomi-Babri Masjid court case on behalf of Lord Ram, has decided to launch a massive campaign for raising consciousness among the masses (read Hindu voters).

On April 6 on the occasion of Hindu new year or ‘varsh pratipada’ that carries special significance in the Hindutva belief system, 13 crore chants of the famous ‘Ram Naam’ hymn — ‘Sri Ram Jai Ram, Jai Jai Ram’—would be carried out at public meetings across the country to wish for the speedy construction of the Ram temple in Ayodhya.

VHP international joint general secretary Surendra Jain told MyNation that VHP would organise the hymn chanting on the occasion of the Hindu new year.

“The hymn will be chanted for 13 crore times in a period of one-and-a-half hours starting sunrise on April 6 under the auspicious ‘Sarvarth Siddhi Yog’. We have organised the hymn chanting at all major centres across India, including New Delhi where the event will take place at four places, including the Jhandewalan,” Jain said.

In the Hindu belief system, this yog is considered special as any wish made is granted.

The hymn is considered holy and was popularised by Hindu saint Samarth Ramdas of Maharashtra.
