Uttarakhand bus accident: 9 children dead, 16 injured in Tehri Garhwal

A bus carrying students fell into a gorge in Tehri Garhwal, Uttarakhand, leaving nine children dead and 16 injured.

Tehri Garhwal: A bus fell into a gorge at Kangsali in Tehri Garhwal, leaving nine children dead and 16 severely injured.

The injured have been admitted to a district hospital in Baurari. 

State Disaster Response Force, district administration and medical professionals rushed to the spot and helped evacuate passengers of the bus and had the injured shifted to hospital.

Those who are severely injured were airlifted to AIIMS in Rishikesh. 

There are reports that the bus was carrying people over its capacity.

The district magistrate, according to ANI, said that a probe will be conducted in this regard and that the guilty will be punished.

Meanwhile, chief minister of Uttarakhand, Trivendra Rawat has also ordered a magisterial-level probe into the incident.

Rawat also expressed his condolences and directed the officers concerned to act quickly in their rescue efforts.
