Overcome by depression relating to her husband’s death, a 60-year-old lady, who had been roaming on the streets of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, will reunite with her family.
Bengaluru: Shanta Tadwai is 60 years old. Since 2009, she had been leading the life of a derelict, meandering on the streets of Agra, Uttar Pradesh, better known for the Taj Mahal.
Last Wednesday (August 7) she was unfortunately mistaken for a child lifter and a mob even attacked her. Fortunately, police rushed to the scene and rescued her.
But that was only the tip of the iceberg. As the lady was rescued and was in the custody of the police, the police traced her address to Gujarat. She hails from Narmada district.
Upon finding her roots, the police informed her brother, who is all set to take her back home.
But why was she lost for the last 10 years?
Well, Shanta lost her husband in the year 2009 and left Gujarat as the loss was unbearable. Depression took over her and she left the place all at once.
Interestingly, she is a mother of three, including two daughters. Though her family launched a manhunt for her, she was not traceable. So, they gave up.
According to a media report, station house officer Arvind Kumar Nirval of Shamshabad said, “We found that after her husband Dinesh’s death, she was depressed and left home in 2009-10. Her family searched for her for many years but couldn’t find her.”
Finally, it will be home-sweet-home for Shanta and indeed, all’s well that ends well!
