He added that in Ladakh, a befitting reply had been given to those coveting our territories.
In a further assertion, PM said that India knows how to maintain friendship, but it can certainly look someone in the eye and retaliate.
He paid tribute to the Indian soldiers and said that our brave-hearts have shown that they won’t let any harm be done to 'Mother India'. Their valour will always be remembered. Families who lost their sons, still want to send their other children to defence forces. Their spirit and sacrifice is venerable, PM said.
Our effort should be towards making the country stronger and self-reliant – this will be the real tribute to our martyrs, said PM Narendra Modi.
It might be recalled that as many as 20 brave Indian soldiers lost their lives in the Galwan Valley as they were engaged in a tent dismantling at PP-14.

It might also be further recalled that PM Modi had chaired an all-party meet to decide the further course of action and later reemphasised that India was and is safe and secure from external aggression.
Extolling the efforts of many for promoting 'being vocal about local,' Modi said People from all over India are writing, reiterating their support to the movement to make India self-reliant.
In the context of the pandemic, PM said that as compared to lockdown, we need to be even more careful now during unlock. If you don't wear masks, follow social distancing and take other precautions, you put yourself as well as others at risk. I appeal to all countrymen to not be careless, he added.
