Urmila Matondkar quits Congress, refuses to be 'means to fight petty in-house politics'

Actress-politician Urmila Matondkar has called it quits six months after joining the Congress 
 

Mumbai: Actress-turned-politician Urmila Matondkar resigned from the Congress on September 10. The 44-year-old actress contested and lost from Mumbai North constituency during Lok Sabha 2019 election.

The actress had joined the party in March this year.

According to Times Now, the 'Rangeela' star has said that she is disillusioned with the way the Congress has performed.

The actress had earlier expressed her disappointment in the party failing to act on the leaked letter of May 16 to Milind Deora detailing Congress' blunders in the polls.

Urmila Matondkar said that the letter was deliberately leaked and that it was an "act of betrayal. She further added that the party has not been able to drive any change after witnessing the fact that some of the key names mentioned in the letter faced no action, but were awarded with plum positions.

However, the actress said that she would continue to stick to her ideology and thoughts. "I will continue to work for the welfare of people," she said.
