2 Hizbul terrorists gunned down in Jammu’s Kulgam

As the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the terrorists hiding inside opened fire leading to a gunfight in which two militants have been killed.
 

New Delhi: Two Hizbul Mujahideen terrorists were killed in an encounter with the security forces in Kulgam area of Jammu and Kashmir on Wednesday.

Reports said the gunfight broke out after a joint team of the army's 34RR and SOG launched a cordon-and-search operation in Gopalpora village before dawn. Forces had received specific reports about the presence of militants there.

As the joint team of forces intensified the searches and fired some warning shots towards the suspected spot, the terrorists hiding inside opened fire leading to a gunfight in which two militants have been killed.

"The slain militants belonged to Hizbul Mujahideen (HM) outfit. Exact identity is being established. Operation is still going on," a police source said.

As a precautionary measure, authorities have suspended mobile internet services in Kulgam district.

The Kashmir Valley has been on high alert and According to senior army officials, forces this year have not only killed conspirators of Pulwama attack but in the first four months have gunned down top commanders, recruiters and trainers.

With the onset of summer, ice has already melted in high terrain region, and some of the mountain passes are getting clear of snow, which is crucial for security men. 

Kashmir has been put under alert, and all suspected activities are being probed.
