While a poor patient from Amethi died after doctors at the hospital refused to treat him as “this was Rahul Gandhi’s hospital and not that of PM Modi or CM Yogi where the Ayushman card did not work”, SGH’s website ironically says that it was “dedicated” to the people of Amethi by late PM Indira Gandhi.

Amethi: Gandhi family trust-run hospital in Amethi where a poverty-stricken patient died after allegedly being denied treatment under PM Narendra Modi’s Ayushman Bharat card is called the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital located in Munshiganj.

According to the website of the hospital, it comes under the aegis of the Indira Gandhi Group of Institutions and is an “initiative” of the Sanjay Gandhi Memorial Trust.

MyNation tried to contact the hospital but did not receive any response

“The foundation stone of the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital was laid on 1st September 1982 by the Late Prime Minister Smt. Indira Gandhi, dedicating it to the people of Amethi,” the hospital’s website says.

Further, the website also reveals that this is not just Rahul Gandhi’s hospital, but also of Sonia Gandhi, who is the chairperson of the trust running the hospital. The trust also counts among trustees other bigwigs of the Congress.

“The Trust is held together by the able leadership of its chairperson, Mrs. Sonia Gandhi. The trustees include Shri. Rahul Gandhi, Capt. Satish Sharma, and Shri. Motilal Vora who is also the Secretary of the Trust. The Administrator of the trust is Wg. Cdr. (Retd.) Manoj Muttu,” the web page of SGH reads.

Going by the testimony of the kin of the deceased, it was Dr Sidharth who allegedly refused the dying man treatment in the name of politics.

MyNation dug into the website of the hospital and found the doctor too.

It further adds: “The Trust manages an outstanding rural medical centre, the Sanjay Gandhi Hospital (SGH) and quality educational institutes such as the Indira Gandhi School and College of Nursing (IGSCON), the Indira Gandhi Institute of Paramedical Sciences (IGIPS), the Indira Gandhi Technical Institute (IGTI) and the Rajiv Gandhi Computer Shiksha Kendra”.
