New Delhi: Delhi Police and Assam Police have apprehended three persons allegedly with ISIS links, in possession of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) and have averted a terror strike.

According to reports, DCP of Delhi Police Special Cell, Pramod Kushwaha, on Monday, said that the three apprehended persons were arrested with an IED in their possession.

Kushwah said that the accused have been identified as Mukadir Islam, Ranjeet Ali and Jameel Luit. All three all in their early 20s.

Delhi Police on Monday said they were able to avert a terror strike with the arrest of the three persons from Assam.

Sources claim that the accused were planning terror strikes in New Delhi and other states.

Reportedly, Zameel worked in an Aadhaar centre while Mukadir worked as a driver and Ranjit worked in a company that sells fish.

Speaking at a press conference, Kushwaha said, "We kept receiving intelligence about the three terrorists for quite some time. During an investigation, Assistant Commissioners of Police Special Cell Lalit Mohan Negi and Hriday Bhushan found out that these terrorists hail from Assam and were planning strikes in Assam and Delhi. With the help of Assam Police, we conducted a raid and arrested them."

During the arrest, IED and literature related to Jaish-e-Mohammed was seized from the three accused.

An ANI report quoted the Delhi Police Special Cell DCP as saying, "We have recovered a complete IED, 1 kg explosives & IED raw materials. They had planned to carry out a stabbing attack in a 'lone wolf' style right after planned IED blast in Goalpara today. They learnt to make IED by watching DIY videos."

The accused were classmates and had also radicalised some people in Delhi, a senior police official said, according to a PTI report
