Temples and mosques in the country are being converting to covid care centres
Bengaluru: No doubt the second wave of the coronavirus pandemic has hit India hard, but it has also brought to fore many selfless souls who are willing to walk the extra mile, just to ensure their brethren face no hurdles.
A few noble souls have come forward in Hyderabad to convert a mosque into a covid care centre. Considering the disastrous situation in one of the city’s areas, a voluntary organisation helped the mosque do the needful. Presently, it holds 40 beds. A 50-member staff is available all the time whereas 4 doctors too are on duty, as per an India Today report.
Daniel, a patient’s relative says, “We were searching for a hospital. We did not get any however. One of my colleagues referred me here. When we called them up, they answered in the affirmative. As we brought the patient here, they got them admitted and are taking care of them well”.
Fareed, member, helping hand foundation says, “We have divided the centre into 2 parts. 20 for male and 20 for females. All the beds are equipped with oxygen and oxygen concentrators”.

Swami Narayan temple in Gujarat
In Gujarat, BAPS Swaminarayan Temple of Vadodara has converted its Yagnapurush Sabhagruh to a Covid-19 facility. It is equipped with 500 beds, oxygen facilities like liquid oxygen tanks and piped oxygen lines, ICU beds and ventilators.
Puri Jagannath temple in Odisha
One of the most famous temples in the country, Puri Jagannath too has offered its services. It has converted its Nilachal Bhakta Nivas into a Covid-19 Care Centre. It has 120 beds.
Pawan Dham temple in Mumbai
Pawandham Temple in Mumbai’s Kandivali has once again converted its four-storey building into a Covid-19 quarantine centre equipped with 100 beds. Out of the 100, 50 beds are equipped with an oxygen concentrator unit, oximeters, pulse metre, portable BP apparatus, monitor machine among others. Additionally, more than 50 medical staff including 10 doctors are deployed in the facility.
It is in this way that temples and mosques are giving their best to help citizens in the country to help take on the virus.
