Hinting that voter deletion forms were sent by Telangana, Andhra Pradesh's ruling Telugu Desam Party sought the intervention of the Election Commission of India
New Delhi: Telugu Desam Party has now reached the doorstep of the Election Commission of India. This after a row erupted over the alleged misuse of data between TDP and opposition YSRCP in Andhra Pradesh.
TDP delegation submitted a representation to Chief Election Commissioner, Sunil Arora, accusing the YSRCP of stealing data with Telangana’s help.
While in New Delhi, the ruling party sought action against the YSRCP and the TRS.
The TDP delegation included state ministers Kalava Srinivasulu and Nakka Anand Babu, along with TDP MPs K Rammohan Rao and K Ravindra Kumar.
Addressing the media, Srinivasalu said that they have requested the CEC to act on the misuse of Form 7. He also sought action against YSRCP, which has sought the deletion of eligible voters from the electoral rolls.
“It appears that some of these applications were submitted online from outside the state of Andhra Pradesh,” Srinivasalu added, hinting that the TRS government was helping the YSRCP.
The data breach that concerns millions of voters has created an atmosphere of tension between the two parties.
The YSRCP approached the Election Commission of India alleging that Andhra Pradesh has 59 lakh bogus voters.
YSRCP chief Jagan has accused the state chief minister Chandrababu Naidu of not only adding bogus voters in support of TDP, but also deleting voters in favour of the YSRCP.
A complaint filed by Lokeshwar Reddy stated that the TDP had given access to a company called IT Grids Pvt Ltd. Telangana police filed a case and subsequently formed a Special Investigation Team (SIT).
Reddy alleged that Seva Mitra, the TDP’s official app, which was designed by IT Grids, had procured the data of the individuals and profiled voters to improve the ruling party’s chances in the upcoming Legislative Assembly and Lok Sabha polls.
