In response to the recent tragedy involving the deaths of three UPSC aspirants due to flooding in an IAS coaching center's basement in Old Rajinder Nagar, Delhi authorities have launched a rigorous crackdown on illegal constructions and encroachments by coaching centers across the city. The incident, which underscored critical safety lapses, prompted immediate regulatory action. On Monday, the prominent Drishti IAS coaching center, led by renowned educator Dr. Vikas Divyakirti, was subjected to scrutiny. Authorities sealed off its basement in Mukherjee Nagar, closing five rooms and instructing the center to liaise with city officials for further compliance.

Dr. Vikas Divyakirti, a distinguished figure in the UPSC coaching field, is widely respected for his expertise and teaching prowess. He has garnered significant popularity on social media, with his personal YouTube channel attracting 2.95 million subscribers and his coaching center, Drishti IAS, boasting over 11 million subscribers. His engaging lecture clips are a hit on Instagram, contributing to his high profile in the education sector. Married in 1998 to Taruna Verma, who holds a PhD and serves as the Director of Drishti IAS, Dr. Divyakirti has also built a notable social media presence. Taruna Verma has 65.5K followers on Instagram, reflecting her influence in the educational community.

Academic Background and Career Evolution
Dr. Divyakirti’s educational journey began at Saraswati Shishu Mandir in Bhiwani, followed by a BA in Hindi from Delhi University's Zakir Husain Delhi College. His academic credentials are further strengthened by postgraduate degrees in English and Hindi, including MA, MPhil, and PhD qualifications. These achievements have positioned him as one of the most qualified UPSC educators in India. After completing his education, Dr. Divyakirti taught at Delhi University while preparing for the UPSC exams, achieving an impressive AIR 384 in 1996. Despite a brief tenure at the Ministry of Home Affairs, his passion for teaching led him to establish Drishti IAS in Mukherjee Nagar in 1999, where he continues to guide aspirants with dedication.
