After facing a defeat against Theni candidate and O Panneerselvam’s son, AMMK candidate Thanga Tamilselvan went on to make allegations against chief TTV Dhinakaran. A meeting was convened with AMMK leaders to decide the next course of action.
Chennai: Amma Makkal Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary TTV Dhinakaran addressed media persons and stated that disciplinary action would be taken against Thanga Tamilselvan for his comments against the party.
An audio clip went viral wherein Thanga Tamilselvan could be heard blaming TTV Dhinakaran for the party faring badly during the elections. The clip led to tongues wagging about the future of Tamilselvan in the party.
Thanga Tamilselvan admitted that the voice in the clip was indeed his and further hinted at quitting the party very soon.
In the audio, Selvan can be heard saying, “What TTV Dhinakaran is doing is cowardly politics. With this kind of politics, he is not going anywhere, and he will never win any election.”
Tamilselvan was later shown the door from the party.
Reports also suggest that AIADMK coordinator and Tamil Nadu chief minister Edappadi K Palaniswami, is waiting to jump at the opportunity and draw Tamilselvan back into the fold.
However, looks like this is yet another aspect that Palaniswami and O Panneerselvam do not see eye to eye on.
According to reports, Panneerselvam is allegedly an impediment in Tamilselvan’s return to the party as they are from the same constituency. AMMK held a meeting on the morning of June 25, to decide on a new propaganda secretary in place of Tamilselvan.
Thanga Tamilselvan hails from the district of Theni in Tamil Nadu and was chosen by AMMK leader TTV Dhinakaran to contest from the same district. He contested against OP Ravindranath Kumar, son of AIADMK leader and deputy chief minister O Panneerselvam.
Tamilselvan faced defeat paving the way for Ravindranath Kumar to emerge victorious. Kumar was the only AIADMK candidate to have won the seat.
AMMK was expected to split the vote share but did not perform as predicted.
