Bengaluru: The Bengaluru Police are on high alert after a man refused to be checked at the Majestic metro station on Tuesday (May 7). He apparently also offered money to a housekeeping staff for a “job”.
Karnataka home minister MB Patil spoke to reporters and said that the city is on vigil after the incident.
Patil said, "The man could be an ordinary man, or maybe a suspect. But we can't take a chance."

Bengaluru Metro officials stated that a device under the man’s kurta triggered an alarm at the metal detector as he passed through it. But, he quickly got away. A CCTV camera at the location has caught the incident.
Reports suggest that he tried to enter the metro station once again, but ran away when he was asked to open his bag.

The incident has left Bengaluru Police on high alert and top metro officials have ordered a stricter vigil across all stations.
Bengaluru Metro Rail Corporation Limited (BMRCL) chief public relations officer BL Yashvanth Chavan was quoted as saying, “We have trained security guards to contact local police immediately if they come across any suspicious objects or people.”
Deputy commissioner of police (west) Ravi D Channannavar has deputed police search teams to locate the suspect and all angles are being probed in the case.
This incident comes at a time when southern India is on high alert following the deadly terror attacks in Sri Lanka that claimed the lives of over 250 people, including 45 children.
Bengaluru city police Commissioner T Suneel Kumar had held a meeting last month with heads, representatives of important temples, mosques, churches, malls, hotels, restaurants in the city and asked them to install CCTV cameras as well as follow other standard security protocol.
