Yashvi Kevadiya, Mansi Varsnai and Hasti Surani each cleared the Class XII exams comfortably. The three girls were among 20 others, who were killed in a deadly fire in a commercial complex in Surat on Friday.
Surat: According to Class XII Board exam results that were declared on Saturday, three out of the 20 students, who died in the fire tragedy at a commercial complex in Sarthana area of Surat on Friday, cleared the exams successfully.
Yashvi Kevadiya, Mansi Varsnai and Hasti Surani had appeared for the Class XII exams. Yashvi scored 67.75 percentile (C1) grade, Mansi scored 52.03 percentile (C1 grade) and Hasti passed the exams with 69.39 percentile (B2 grade).
Surat police commissioner Satish Sharma said on early Saturday morning that the owner of the coaching centre has been arrested by the police and that two builders are absconding as of now. Bhargav Bhutani, who ran the coaching class on the third floor of the Takshila Complex building, has also been arrested on Saturday.
Following the disastrous incident, Gujarat chief minister, Vijay Rupani, had ordered a fire safety audit of coaching centres, schools and colleges on Friday.
An official stated that the youngest victim was Isha Kakadiya (15) and the oldest was Grishma Gajera (22). He said that most of the victims were in the age group of 17-18 years. Police said that 16 girls were from among those who died. The students were all apparently part of a coaching centre which taught art and craft lessons and training.
PL Chaudari, Surat police spokesperson said that a child aged between 3-4 years sustained burn injuries and is currently hospitalised.
The official also reported that most of the victims were charred to death in the blaze, but two to three died from jumping off from the third and fourth floor of the building while trying to escape the fire.
