State confiscates National Herald property in Panchkula attached by ED in 2018

The adjudicating authority cleared the attachment of properties carried out by the ED in the National Herald case, earlier in December 2018, in Haryana's Panchkula, adjacent to Chandigarh
 

New Delhi: While the 'Rahul Gandhi-is-not-responsible-for-the-blunders-of-Rahul Gandhi' drama is on and the entire Congress brass is wooing him from resigning, the Enforcement Directorate dealt a big blow to the party.

The adjudicating authority cleared the attachment of properties carried out by the ED in the National Herald case, earlier in December 2018, in Haryana's Panchkula, adjacent to Chandigarh.

These properties now stand confiscated by the state.

The premier agency had in 2018 attached several properties associated with National Herald in Panchkula and Gurugram worth Rs 64 crore.

The agency had attached the National Herald plot in Panchkula following allegations of irregularities in its allotment for the purpose of constructing National Herald's office. The piece of land was allegedly illegally re-allotted to Associated Journals (AJL), the publishers of the newspaper in 2005.
