New Delhi: The security forces have killed one terrorist in an early morning encounter, which broke in Jammu and Kashmir's Shopian district on Friday (May 31). The security personnel have also recovered the body of the slain terrorist and the identification process is underway.
According to officials, the exchange of fire is taking place at Dragad Sugan area of Shopian district. As per reports back-to-back massive blasts were also heard from the encounter site.

Police sources told MyNation that security forces had received specific inputs about the presence of terrorists in the area after which they had surrounded an orchard area of Dragad-Sugan village.
As the forces were carrying cordon and search operation, hiding terrorists opened fire on them, triggering an encounter which is still underway. However, the jawans faced resistance after locals resorted to stone pelting near the encounter site.

It is believed that two to three terrorists are trapped in the area. Additional forces have been rushed to the area to ensure to flush out the militants from the orchard area.
Currently, a combing search operation is underway.
