The Shiva Sena has equated the incident of police opening fire in Jamia Millia to what happened in Jallianwala Bagh, thereby exposing its falling into newer lows

Bengaluru: If you want to know and understand how political parties fall to newer lows and kowtow to political demands, learn it from the Shiva Sena.

After joining hands with the Congress and NCP to form a government in Maharashtra, the Shiva Sena has more or less relinquished the principle which has formed its core.

In its latest gaffe, the Shiv Sena has equated police opening fire in Jamia Millia to what happened in Jallianwala Bagh decades ago.

Its chief Uddhav Thackeray said, “There is a deliberate situation being created to create chaos and insecurity in the country. I am using my words very carefully --the manner in which the police entered the compound of (Jamia Millia Islamia) and shot at the students, it was almost like the days of Jalianwala Bagh.”

To compare a situation that was dominated by lumpen elements to what happened during the Indian Freedom Struggle should top the charts of appeasement.

The Maharashtra CM also added that the youth is the biggest force of the country and requested the PM not to disturb them.

Meanwhile, former Maharashtra CM Devendra Fadnavis reacted strongly to Uddhav’s remarks and said it was the lumpen elements who had created havoc on the campus.

Day by day, it is becoming more and more clear that the Shiva Sena is falling to newer depths of self-effacement.

Even Bal Thackeray, the founder of Shiva Sena would be crying from his heavenly abode looking at how his son has bootlicked the Congress and given up on its Hindutva ideology.

The CAB, now a law, intends to grant citizenship to religiously persecuted minorities in the countries of Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh.

Though the government sees it as a correcting factor, the opposition if crying foul, saying it divides the country based on religion.
