A day after the Ranchi court directed Richa Bharti to distribute five copies of the Quran, Hindu activist Sadhvi Prachi has expressed displeasure and stated that temple demolishers must be made to perform Kanwar yatra
Baghpat: After Richa Bharti was granted bail on the condition that within 15 days, she should distribute five copies of the Quran as punishment for posting a communal message on social media, Sadhvi Prachi, a Hindu activist, has now reacted stating that those who are indulging in ‘temple demolitions’ should be made to perform the Kanwar yatra.
Further calling this order a Fatwa, Prachi stated that the “temple demolishers” must be made to distribute copies of the Vedas.
Sadhvi said the court's decision should be applicable to those who demolish Hanuman temple and Durga Mandir in Muzaffarnagar and Delhi.
A local court in Ranchi on Tuesday (July 16) asked Richa, a 19-year-old, to distribute five copies of the Quran as punishment for posting a communal message on social media. The court added that the bail would be granted solely based on this condition.
News 18 Hindi quoted Richa as saying that the post was not hers and that her comment was not objectionable.
She further stated that her lawyer will appeal against the lower court’s decision. Richa added, "If anybody has been hurt by my comment, then when there are other dirty posts that come from another community, why is there no action taken at that time?”
According to reports, judicial magistrate Manish Kumar directed Richa to donate four copies of the holy book to the libraries of different schools and colleges, and one other copy to be handed over to Anjuman Islamia Committee.
Earlier on Saturday (July 12), Richa, a first-year student from a local college in Ranchi, was arrested after a case was registered against her for allegedly sharing objectionable communal content on social media that outraged a minority community in their locality.
However, several Hindu organisations and political leaders expressed their displeasure on the unusual decision of the Ranchi court.
Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage of Lord Shiva's devotees. Kanwariyas travel to Haridwar, Gaumukh and Gangotri in Uttarakhand and Sultanganj in Bihar to fetch holy waters of river Ganga.
