Hollywood actress Salma Hayek has revealed that she has great love for Hindu goddess Lakshmi and concentrates on her while she meditates.

She said on the microblogging site, “When I want to connect with my inner beauty, I start my meditation focusing on the goddess Lakshmi, who in Hinduism represents wealth, fortune, love, beauty, Māyā (literally meaning "illusion" or "magic”), joy and prosperity. Somehow her image makes me feel joyful, and joy is the greatest door for your inner beauty.”

A note on the goddess:

Lakshmi, in Hinduism, is the goddess of wealth and prosperity. Those who wish to be prosperous in any kind worship her with great devotion. She also represents hard work, devotion, virtues and values. If a person who worships her and resorts vices like laziness, it is believed she does not bless and leaves the place at once.

Hindus also worship the goddess during the festival of Diwali and Dhanteras.

Mother Sita is also considered to be a reincarnation of Lakshmi. After she was abducted by Ravan and Lord Rama waged a war, defeating him to rescue her, they returned to their kingdom. Citizens who welcomed them, lit lights, to show them way in the dark.

It is precisely this reason why this is observed during Diwali.

Back to the issue of Salma Hayek, the actress has openly expressed her love for yoga.
She had said, “I don’t have time to exercise. I am working. I’ve had some 20-hour days. If you’re aware of your body, you’d be surprised by the effect it (restorative yoga) can have.”
