“We had received information that an illegal pool party is being organised. Teenagers and youths were targeted and were approached through Facebook for the party," said a senior police official.
New Delhi: Noida police have raided a rave party and arrested 192 youths including 31 girls, who were found to be consuming illicit liquor from neighbouring states and hookah.
The rave party was secretly being organised in a farmhouse in Noida’s sector 135 near the expressway.
According to the official, the party organisers had contacted young people through social media and had taken Rs 10,000 for ‘Saturday pool party’. In the invite, the organisers had promised unlimited imported alcohol, hookah and food. However, entry was free for girls.
In the midnight raid, police have arrested the revellers. The cops are suspecting the involvement of some local officers in the nexus, working together with the organisers of the party.
“We had received information that an illegal pool party is being organised. Teenagers and youths were targeted and were approached through Facebook for the party. A onetime fee of Rs 10,000 was taken for the unlimited package. Girls had to pay no entrée free, in fact, they were invited by the organisers and were working on commission basis to entice men to consume more alcohol and increase the sale,” said a senior police official.
All the liquor seized from the farmhouse were illegally brought from Haryana and Delhi, which were not for sale in Uttar Pradesh. Police have also recovered hookah.
According to reports, along with the five key organisers who were arrested, 31 hookah, 112 beer bottles, 30 liquor bottles which were meant for sale in Delhi, among other items, have been seized from the farmhouse.
"The key organisers have been identified as Amit Tyagi, Pankaj Sharma, Adnan Ahmed, Balesh Kohli, all four from Delhi, and Kapil Singh Bhati, from Ghaziabad", the Senior Superintendent of Police, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Vaibhav Krishna said.
However, no other narcotic substances have been found yet.
The police claim that most of the party-goers were from Delhi and Haryana and very few of them were from Noida. Organisers during the investigation have told that in past they have arranged similar rave parties. SSP Noida has directed a high-level investigation to probe to find out if local police were also involved.
