Raman Singh: I had warned administration against lifting MLA's security

Former chief minister of Chhattisgarh Raman Singh said at an interaction with journalists on Wednesday that his party, the BJP, will not get walked down by acts of terrorism. He added, 'We are not cowards unlike the terrorists. The BJP campaign for the Lok Sabha election will continue'.
 

New Delhi: Speaking about the naxal attack that killed BJP MLA Bheema Mandavi and 4 policmen on Tuesday, former chief minister of Chhattisgarh said that the attack will not deter the party from contesting in the elections. He added that the party strongly believes in democracy and every party member and volunteer will stay strong.

Singh said, "we are not cowards like the terrorists. I have already said do not take away security from current and former MLAs. Bastar is a sensitive region and the government removed security from the MLAs. Don't know how many more of these incidents they want to see".

He said roads are once again becoming unsafe to travel and called the naxal attack a failure of the government in their 100 days of governance. The party, he said, will sit with both state and national heads to discuss further course of action. 

Singh is all set to visit the families of the naxal attack victims in Dantewada.

The DIG (operations), Chhattisgarh, P Sunder Raj breifed the media about tuesday's incident where Maoists attacked and killed BJP MLA from Dantewada Bheema Mandavi and his security personnel. The DIG said that investigations into the red terror attack are still on. The police are trying to ascertain lapses in security, if any, that led to the killing of 5 persons.
