Days after BJP's Devendra Fadnavis was sworn in as Maharashtra chief minister, several Rajya Sabha MPs of the opposition raised slogans over the government formation
New Delhi: Rajya Sabha was adjourned till 2 pm on Monday (November 25) amidst sloganeering by the MPs of the opposition, over the Maharashtra issue.
Earlier, similar slogans were raised in the Lower House of the Parliament, where the opposition chanted 'Samvidhan ki hatya bandh karo, bandh karo' (stop killing the constitution) during the Question Hour.
Lok Sabha has also been adjourned till noon following continued sloganeering by opposition leaders.
Also, the leader of the Congress in the Lok Sabha, Adhir Ranjan Chowdhury, and Congress' chief whip in the Lok Sabha, K Suresh on Monday gave the adjournment motion notice in the House over the Maharashtra issue.
In yet another development, Rajya Sabha MP Binoy Viswam has also given Suspension of Business Notice in Rajya Sabha under rule 267 over "Maharashtra government formation".
After a prolonged uncertainty over the government formation that lasted for nearly a month, on Saturday (November 23) Devendra Fadnavis took oath for the second consecutive term as the state chief minister, while Ajit Pawar was sworn-in as deputy chief minister.
A miffed Congress, NCP and Shiv Sena knocked on the Supreme Court's doors. The apex court will decide on the floor test.
