On July 16, Harish Jatav was beaten by a mob to death after accidentally hitting a woman with his bike in Alwar. After this incident, Harish's father was receiving threat calls.

Meanwhile, the family members were unhappy with the police investigation in Harish’s death case. They alleged that police were trying to save the accused in the case.

On Thursday evening, Rati Ram Jatav (60) consumed poison and was rushed to the Alwar General Hospital. But, he passed away on Friday.

Alwar SP Paris Deshmukh said Rati Ram’s family had demanded a compensation of Rs 1 crore. He said that the accused in Harish’s killing had been booked under section 302 (murder) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and the probe is underway.

Earlier, the villagers have refused the authorities to conduct the postmortem of the body. They urged the authorities that they will let them conduct postmortem till the accused in Harish death case are arrested. The body of Ratiram has been kept at Tapukada CHC, according to reports.

Meanwhile, BJP leaders have also staged a protest at Tapukada CHC against police's lack of interest in the case. BJP general secretary Ramkishan said the police are doing injustice to the Dalits.

He added that the SP and IG visited Tapukada, but did not take any action. The police pressured Harish’s father to take a bribe and close the matter, he said.
