Punjab police reached Kerala to take into custody two of its sub-inspectors, who were absconding for the past one month with a sum of over Rs 6 crore. The duo allegedly seized the money from a residence of the aide of former Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who was accused of raping a Kerala nun, and is currently out on bail.
Kochi: The Punjab Police have reached Kerala to take into custody sub-inspectors Joginder Singh and Rajpreet Singh, who were absconding for the past one month. The duo was absconding with an amount over Rs 6 crore, which they allegedly seized from a residence of the aide of former Bishop Franco Mulakkal, who was accused of raping a Kerala nun, and is currently out on bail.

On Tuesday, the Kerala Police had arrested the two policemen of Punjab. The police officers had seized the amount from Father Antony Madassery in Jalandhar.
The Khanna Police recovered unaccounted money from the residence of Antony in Partappura, Jalandhar on March 29.
Following this, a case was registered at Mohali on April 12 under sections 406 and 34 of the IPC and Sections 13 (1) and 13(2) of Prevention of Corruption Act after a probe by the SIT headed by IG Praveen Kumar Sinha.
Another person was also arrested in connection with the incident. The accused is identified as Surinder Singh a native of Pathankot.
Antony was earlier booked by the Enforcement Directorate for possessing unaccountable cash of Rs 16.65 crore. Of that, Rs 9.65 crore was confiscated.
