Over the past decade, India has witnessed a significant 60 percent increase in milk production. This has contributed to a 40 percent increase in per capita milk production. Unlike the global average growth rate of two percent, India’s dairy sector is expanding at a remarkable 6 percent rate annually. In India, the dairy sector has achieved a turnover of Rs 10 lakh crore with the immense contribution of women farmers.”
Furthermore, PM Modi highlighted that India’s success in the dairy sector is a result of women-led movement. He emphasized the importance of empowering every woman in India as a crucial step towards national development.
Amul as the largest dairy company
PM Modi added, “It is our aim to achieve the developed nation status by India’s 100th year of independence in 2047. That year, Amul will mark its 75th anniversary. You must aim for renewed resolutions for meeting the nutritional demands of the rapidly growing population. I’m glad to learn that Amul has aimed to expand its processing capacity over the next five years. Presently, Amul is the eight largest milk production company in the world. You must strive to achieve the title of the world’s largest dairy company in the next few years. The government will always support your initiatives.”
