PM Modi's tweet on 'surprise announcement' goes viral, gets 1,000 likes per minute

Following PM Narendra Modi's tweet, within minutes it went viral and in an hour the tweet had garnered 24,536 Retweets 74,497 Likes and 17,000 comments.
 

New Delhi: Ahead of the 2019 Lok Sabha election, Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced that he will make a surprise announcement between 11.45 am and 12 noon on Wednesday. 

Following the tweet, within minutes it went viral and in an hour the tweet had garnered 24,536 Retweets 74,497 Likes and 17,000 comments.

Tweeting in both Hindi and English, Modi said, "I would be addressing the nation at around 11:45 AM - 12.00 noon with an important message. Do watch the address on television, radio or social media."

आज सवेरे लगभग 11.45 - 12.00 बजे मैं एक महत्वपूर्ण संदेश लेकर आप के बीच आऊँगा।

The surprise tweet led many to specualte and memes started to flood

The PM finally began his address at 12.26 pm. He announced that India had demonstrated anti-satellite missile capability by shooting down a live satellite.
