Prime Minister Narendra Modi attended the Dussehra event in New Delhi. While he spoke of furthering women empowerment as today is Vijaya Dashami, he also hailed the air warriors on Air Force Day. He ended the speech by urging all to take a pledge in saving water, conserving energy and ending plastic.
New Delhi: Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressed the nation on Vijaya Dashami. He attended the Dussehra function organised at Ram Leela Grounds in Dwarka Sector-10, New Delhi. He began his speech by stressing on the importance of festivals and how they are educational in India.
PM Modi said that festivals tend to end up being a platform that sees all communities coming together. Prominent characteristics of the rich culture in India gets celebrated during these festivals, he added.
Festivals not only connect people, but they fill everyone with enthusiam, said Modi. During the nine days that mark Navratri, people worship "Maa" (Goddess). In this context, the Prime Minister stressed on how al must work towards furthering women empowerment.
"During Mann Ki Baat, I had spoken about 'Ghar Ki Laxmi' (Goddess of the home). With Diwali fast approaching, let us celebrate Nari Shakti (woman power)," said PM Modi.
On the day of Vijaya Dashami, which is also observed as Air Force Day (October 8), the Prime Minister hailed the air warriors.
The Prime Minister ended his speech with a request. "I request my fellow Indians to take a pledge along with me. Let us not waste food, let us put an end to plastic, while we conserve energy and save water," he said.
