BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has said that he may file a PIL seeking a CBI probe into Palghar lynching.

Bengaluru: The lynching of two Hindu saints and their driver at Palghar, Maharashtra by a mob of roughly 200 people has left everyone fuming.

What’s worse is how the Maharashtra CM Uddhav Thackeray kept silent even after days of the incident. It was only after the video started going viral that the Maharashtra government was shamed into taking action.

Immediately, more than a hundred were arrested. But even after the arrests, there is a growing feeling that the Maharashtra government is not fully serious about the issue.

Now, as the chorus for justice grows, BJP Rajya Sabha MP Subramanian Swamy has said that he will file a PIL for a CBI inquiry. In his tweet, he said, “I am consulting my colleagues and after will file a PIL for a CBI inquiry into the pre-meditated  murders in Palghar district recently. I hope the CM will in the meantime will himself order it.”

But it is also interesting to note that it was Swamy himself who had exhibited confidence in Uddhav Thackeray and PM Modi saying “Palghar is in Maharashtra where the CM is the son of Balasaheb, the Shiv Sena founder. Maharashtra is in India whose Prime Minister is of BJP. So you think this country will not bring justice to the criminals?”

But as the Maharashtra government pussy-foots over the issue, probably Swamy has learnt that the Maharashtra CM will not be able to render justice.

It was on April 16 that the two monks Mahant Kalpavruksha Giri and Sushilgiri Maharaj were travelling in a vehicle driven by Nilesh Yelgade to Gujarat for attending a funeral.

The mob which attacked them mistook them to be kidnappers and bashed them up. Meanwhile, the police, who were also witness to the incident, stood mute even as the mob disdainfully attacked the monks. In fact, a video shows that a police officer handed over the monk to the mob.
