Nirav Modi case: CBI charge sheet against retired PNB official, wife

New Delhi: Officials said on October 2, that the CBI has filed a fresh charge sheet against Gokulnath Shetty. Shetty, the Punjab National Bank deputy manager allegedly helped Nirav Modi and Mehul Choksi perpetrate a Rs 13000-crore fraud.

According to reports, the charge sheet was also filed against Shetty's wife for amassing disproportionate assets worth Rs 2.63 crore.

The CBI charged Shetty and his wife Asha Latha Shetty, a clerk in Indian Bank, under corruption charges for amassing assets worth over Rs 4.28 crore. The CBI also alleges that the duo will be able to provide a satisfactory explanation for assets worth Rs 2.63 crore.

Nirav Modi (49) is currently lodged in a UK jail after being arrested in London in March 2019 and is currently fighting extradition to India.
