“Nikhil Elliddiyappa” which means “Nikhil, where are you?” became popular after Nikhil Kumaraswamy was announced as the JD(S) candidate for Mandya.

It was HD Kumaraswamy who famously made this statement during the release of the movie Jaguar in which his son played the lead role.

During the audio release the conversation between father Kumaraswamy and son Nikhil goes thus:

Kumaraswamy: Nikhil, where are you?

Nikhil: I am here (standing in the audience amidst people)

Kumaraswamy: Oh! You are already among the people

Nikhil: Yes I am in the midst of people that love you and grandfather (Deve Gowda) more than themselves

Kumaraswamy: Thank you, you should gain the love and trust of people, this is my advice to you on this day.

Nikhil: Sure, father.

This video is being circulated and Nikhil is being trolled.

After being trolled for days together, Nikhil spoke about the same in Mandya and said that he will be in Mandya till his last breath.

Nikhil is contesting against Sumalatha Ambareesh, wife of former Congress MP late Ambareesh, who passed away on November 24. Sumalatha is contesting as an independent candidate as Congress did not give her a ticket. Congress is supporting the JD(S) candidate Nikhil due to seat-sharing agreement between the alliance parties.

Sumalatha is being supported by BJP. However, Ambareesh's fans and Congress workers in Mandya have declared their support to Sumalatha.
