New Delhi: A team of the National Investigation Agency (NIA) would be going to Sri Lanka in the aftermath of the ghastly suicide bombings on Easter to study in detail the modus operandi of the National Tawheed Jamaat (NTJ) that is suspected to be behind the terror strikes.

Back in the country, the NIA is up in sleeves into an investigation into the organisation and its possible connections in India.

The organisation is suspected to have spread its network in Tamil Nadu. The NIA has landed upon several such inputs and is into the process of investigating them.

According to sources in the NIA, the Jamaat’s network has considerable strength in countries such as the US, Sri Lanka, Dubai and other west Asian countries. It has possible connections with the IS also.

Interestingly, sensitive information regarding Maulvi Zahran Hashim, the mastermind of the Sri Lankan blasts was received from Tamil Nadu. Indian agencies had shared intelligence inputs regarding the blasts in advance with Sri Lanka, a fact that has been accepted by Colombo.

Sources said that at least four terrorist organisations associated with the IS could be active in Sri Lanka and India.

Meanwhile, the NIA has so far arrested 14 persons suspected of being associated with the ISIS. The latest arrest was that of Mohammad Faiz, a resident of Delhi’s Jafrabad area, who is suspected to be associated with ISIS and planning to attack several locations in Delhi-NCR.

Earlier, the NIA had also conducted successful searches and raids in Wardha in Maharashtra and Hyderabad in which several arrestes were made. The NIA was looking in to ISIS modules.
