Jahangir has a wife and two children aged three and five. It is reported that two of the victim's friends were killed in the terror attack. Jahangir had gone for his Friday prayers when the blast occurred. Jahangir had visited his house in Hyderabad seven months ago.
Jahangir's family ran a restaurant in Christchurch. They have requested the Telangana government to process the visa of Jahangir's brother Mohammed Khursheed, so that he can travel to New Zealand during this difficult time.
Khursheed tried to contact Telangana MP Asaduddin Owaisi about the same. Owaisi in return has spoken to ministry of external affairs Sushma Swaraj and requested her to make necessary arrangements for the family to reach New Zealand.
Owaisi took to Twitter to appeal for help: "A video from #ChristChurch shows one Ahmed Jehangir who was shot. His brother Iqbal Jehangir is a resident of Hyderabad & would like to go to NZ for Ahmed’s family."

Many of those affected will be members of our migrant communities – New Zealand is their home – they are us," she stated.
