After the Supreme Court's order, the NTA has retracted the grace marks given to all 1,563 students and their re-test will be held on June 23 and the results will be declared on June 30.
The whole nation is currently looking at the NTA and the education department of India for explanations amid the seething controversies and allegations over NEET-UG 2024. Speaking about the National Testing Agency (NTA) and the National Eligibility-Cum Entrance Test (NEET), Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan said on Sunday that irregularities have been found and those who are found guilty won't be spared.
Talking to ANI, Pradhan said, "On the recommendations of the Supreme Court, the order has been given for the re-test of 1,563 candidates. Some irregularities have come to light in two places. I assure students and parents that the government has taken this seriously."
The education minister ensures the public that even if higher officials of the NTA are found guilty, they won't be spared and justice will be served. Pradhan said, "The government is concerned about this; no culprit will be spared; they will get the harshest punishment."
Several students, parents, and teachers were protesting across the country, alleging paper leaks and grace marking provided to some students after over 67 students scored a perfect 720 in the exam. Many are demanding a re-examination, and several petitions have also been filed with the Supreme Court, appealing for the recall of NEET-UG 2024 results and the conduct of a new exam.
After the Supreme Court's order, the NTA has retracted the grace marks given to all 1,563 students and their re-test will be held on June 23 and the results will be declared on June 30. Students who do not wish to take the re-examination can have their results without the grace marking awarded previously.
The NEET-UG 2024 examination took place on May 5 by the National Testing Agency (NTA) throughout 4,750 examination centers. The results were announced on June 4.
