Navy’s P81 equipped with special radars and sensors to find AN-32 joins the search

The aircraft P81 is airborne from INS Rajali, Arakkonam Naval Air Station, Tamil Nadu on Friday. The aircraft has been equipped with special sensors, radars which will help locate the missing plane during the search operation, the Indian Navy said.

New Delhi: The Indian Navy on Friday pressed its Long Range Maritime Reconnaissance aircraft P81 to search IAF’s AN-32 which went missing on June 3 in Arunachal Pradesh.

The aircraft P81 is airborne from INS Rajali, Arakonam, Tamil Nadu on Friday morning. It has been equipped with special sensors, radars which will help locate the missing plane during the search operation, the Indian Navy said.

 A group of fixed-wing aircraft and choppers have already been deployed to locate the missing Antonov AN-32 aircraft  in and around the mountainous terrain of Menchuka, officials said.

Moreover, the Indian Army has also deployed unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) to carry out a search operation. Capt. Sharma said the P81 aircraft will carry out the search operation with electro-optical and Infra-Red sensors.

On the other hand family members of Ashish Tanwar, the pilot of IAF AN-32 aircraft met Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Thursday.
